Appreciates art and creativity, and is looking for something original and fun.
My first goal is to make myself smile, and hope that my work will make you smile also.
Painting has been my therapy, and I encourage everyone to follow their creativity . Like many my life has been a journey and I am so blessed to have the courage to pursue my dream.
Why wait for retirement to do what you enjoy?
Ideally I'd like to partner with a gift store to carry my original and reproduction artwork and gifts.
SKG Artwork Sales is a home based business, and was previously US!!
But now it's just me. In May of 2020, like many people's lives, the Olsen family's life changed drastically. This little part-time family business became a one person operation. After the loss of my husband of 35 years, and the loss of my full-time job,I turned to painting to help me through both my emotional and financial needs.
Since I was a young girl I had dreamed about owning my own Art or Craft business. After the changes in my life in 2020 I was blessed with the opportunity to delve into this small business which had been formally a family business with my late husband and his parents.
I had been experimenting with acrylic pour painting and I began to build up a following for my work in Ohio. Also still selling Barbara Olsen Reproduction work.
After becoming a grandmother I decided to move to the Chicago area to be closer to family and spend time with my precious granddaughter. The move meant going back to work full-time, but I was still able to keep my business going on a part-time basis.
I am slowly establishing my roots in St Charles and have had a great response to my work at art shows, on social media, and my website.
My motto is "Art To Make You Smile". It has made me smile, and I hope it makes others do the same. We all have our stories, so this is mine. I love to paint and I love to see the joy on others faces when they see my work. A few sales are always good, but it's so encouraging to talk with people of all ages who appreciate this type of painting.
The Olsen family started out in California over 25 years ago where Barbara Olsen's original pieces were selling in local galleries in the Bay Area.
After a move to Ohio Barbara's work quickly found a larger audience and market for her style. With the help of my husband Scott and I, SKG Artworks was formed and a thriving home business grew. Work was being reproduced and sold to select gift stores and galleries, and also to the general public and collectors world wide.
I learnt a lot about the art business from my in-laws and went back to college in Ohio to receive a Business degree and take Art classes.
At the time of Scott's passing in 2020 his parents were no longer involved in the business, both have now passed. I began painting and haven't looked back. There is still a lot to come out of my small but creative business.
