QuickBooks is not user friendly and support is inconsistent.
I’ve always used QuickBooks, but over the last few months, there have been increasingly more glitches and they’re getting worse by the day. There’s days I can’t do anything in the software! Obviously, I have some clients that will not go to any other software because it’s what they know, but I’ve already switched and trying to bring as many of my clients with me.
Used QuickBooks for two of my businesses. Customer service is extremely poor, discount offers are misleading, and overall you pay more for poor service due to the "brand".
After using their products for more than 2 decades, the quality of their designs along with customer support are quickly going down hill. I cannot recommend their payroll product at all. Too costly and they utterly fail to provide support. The bookkeeping product is unfortunately the only product that seems to be easily enough understood by the average business owner. The cost is getting out of hand.
Full disclosure: I have never used QuickBooks for my own business but I helped a client with hers years ago. I was at her office consulting on marketing and knowing I was more techie than she was, she asked me to help her figure out how to generate some reports in QuickBooks and a few other things. I was able to help her but QB was the most unintuitive thing I ever saw. I was using AccountEdge (formerly MYOB) at the time and I could generate reports and search for data I needed in way less steps than she needed in QB. I can only hope QB is better now but I would never try it myself after what I saw.
For trracking Income and Expense via the 'use register' it is a good product. When it comes to actual business records most useres do not know GAAP [generally accepted accounting practices] so the Balance Sheet that tracks Assets, Liabilities and Equity are not accurate at all and the payroll modules are also not accurate. Intuit keeps monthly updating the product with each locality's changes. However each time they do that they also change all the payroll setting and that impacts on the tracking of payroll liabilities, including the cut-off [threshold] for limits on Social Security deposits.
Quickbooks is a good bookkeeping software but over the years they have tried to branch out into several other aspects.
Recently QB announced it will be stopping its point of sale system. So those who use QB as their Point Of Sale need to start planning for another option.
I would be happy to offer a few non biased options based on your needs and processing volume.
I'm using the desktop version, lately it's been crashing, and I hate that I have to upgrade every 3 years or I won't be able to download my transaction from the bank
