These are in addition to the academic skills of the given trade or profession, such as accountant, lawyer, doctor, realtor, mechanic, manufacturer, etc. Research skills are needed to determine who your best clients/customers are, where they are located, and also how to get the best deals on your overhead, such as rent, office supplies/equipment, and software, if required, among other items or services needed to run the business. Good organization is required for record-keeping, customer service, and scheduling events/meetings to save valuable time. I acquired these skills from an early age from my parents. But it is never too late for anyone to focus on these skills with the aim of improving.
