Our Ideal Customer

We welcome everyone. No experience is needed as we were all new to horses at one point. We are looking for animal lovers to help us in our mission. We also need donations to help support the horses under our care. Please look at out Wish List on our website www.eiahorses.org

About Us

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. provides sanctuary to all horses we accept. F.R.I.E.N.D.S. does not buy, sell, trade or give away horses. Instead, we offer them a lifetime of sanctuary so they will never be in need of help again. We accept all asymptomatic carriers of Equine Infectious Anemia(EIA) within the state of Florida. We also accept any horse in immediate need of assistance in Broward County and our surrounding areas. Our priority is to prevent the needless destruction of horses. Our primary financial goal is to acquire sustainable funding to provide these noble animals with the dignity of allowing them to live out their lives while meeting their needs; providing them with proper care and the loving interactions they deserve. Our moral position is to advocate and participate in ongoing research to find a cure, vaccine or aide in creating a more accurate test for EIA. We offer aide by providing researchers with test tubes of blood samples drawn by a licensed veterinarian for their work. It is also our intention to factually educate the public regarding EIA thus allowing us to dispel the myths and misconceptions that lead owners to think their only option is euthanasia. It is our ethical obligation to surrounding communities that we continue to give back to them in a worthwhile and enriching way by maintaining and enhancing our many programs that benefit local families, organizations and horse owners thereby positively impacting the entire community.

The facility is located at 19801 Sheridan Street, Southwest Ranches, Florida 33332 which is in Broward County.

Regular volunteer hours are Tues, Thurs, Sat and Sun from 12:30 PM- 6:00 PM. Orientation is held the 1st Sat and 3rd Sun of each month at 1:00 PM.

The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about their products. My weekly order is always delivered on time and it is always accurate which is very important when you have over 60+ animals and 50 of them are horses. The quality of hay is the best in town and they offer various kinds to choose from. You get to choose what is best for your horse. Teaching the importance of humane training also known as natural horsemanship, is a vital part of stopping the vicious cycle of mistreatment of horses. I would ask what kind of nonprofit are you? That would help you determine what and who you would reach out to first. (more) I would ask what kind of nonprofit are you? That would help you determine what and who you would reach out to first.

The event needs to be something they want to attend because it sounds like fun. Otherwise, they can mail you a check anytime. The second most important thing is getting the word out about the fundraiser so you have a good turn out. (more) The event needs to be something they want to attend because it sounds like fun. All you need to do is look for grants that give for that purpose. They are out there but there aren't many. (more) All you need to do is look for grants that give for that purpose. They are out there but there aren't many.
