What are people's attitudes toward their health at this stage in the pandemic? Are they more concerned?

Are you seeing any trends in how your customers are prioritizing their health now? Are they trying to reinstate good habits that might have gone by the wayside earlier in the year?

One gift of the pandemic is waking some people up to pay more attention to their health and well being. Healthy habits determine the state of the immune system. Not only is eating clean important, but practicing meditation and entraining our systems to be in sync with the circadian rhythm are vital to one's being. This is often overlooked at many focus on fitness as a reflection of health. While exercise and fitness is great one must embrace all areas of health to thrive. Perhaps the most important aspect to mention in strengthening the immune system is learning how to maintain peace in chaos rather than live in fear and stress. I learned this first hand and am passionate about helping others work with these challenging emotions and develop confidence within themSelves!

Yes, my new and current clients are more aware of their health and the need to be consistent in their choices. They are looking to make a change and are ready. By using healthy habits and tools,  they feel more empowered to make healthier choices and as they do, their confidence grows. As their confidence grows, they are open to growth and learning new habits that serve them on their health journey. They are looking for more control of their own lives.

In my ten years of Health Coaching, these last few months have been my busiest.  I attribute this to two significant factors: 1) people have been forced to stay at home and many have developed some unhealthy habits (consuming junk / comfort food, are more sedentary, have higher stress and less socialization) and 2) of all the Covid deaths, 94% involve co-morbidities such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease (primarily lifestyle related health issues).  So, yes, many people are recognizing the need to prioritize their health.

At this stage in the Pandemic people are struggling with their health because their immune systems are weakened by the financial stress of said pandemic.  Thankfully, I am noticing a trend in the positive direction with people taking their personal health and fitness much more seriously. People are beginning to realize that the best defense against this pandemic is a healthy and strong body.

Definitely! My main goal with any new client is to explain how our system is unique in priming the immune system by focusing on the Microbiome. Since the gut regulates 70% of our immune system, keeping healthy eating habits (NO DIETS), plus managing stress and sleep are at the cornerstone of what I do. The best thing anyone can do for better immunity is to have a healthy gut with diverse bacteria. Specific probiotic strains are essential.

There has been an increased awareness of the importance of immunity. Pre-existing conditions has been deemed a vital term in understanding ones chances of fighting off unwanted viruses. I am clearly seeing a trend of concern for a strong immune system and better health habits. Awareness and prevention will be included in our "new normal". One thing is clear, we cant take our health for granted and we must look at where the responsibility lies when it comes to our own habits.

As a nutritionis I have definitely seen an increase in people's concerns with their health and  many with their weight gain during the Covid lockdown.  Also, because so many could not see their doctors they were looking for more holistic help with their issues and that was very motivating.  As for exercise, as a Nordic Pole walking instructor I was even teaching virtually before I started teaching small groups again in June.  Because walking is such a simple form of exercise that most can do and because it is an outdoor activity I have found that the interest after 11 years is amazing.  So many want enjoy the fact that they can turn an ordinary walk into a full body workout.  As for those who usually go south in the winter they see Nordic Pole walking as a safe and assessible sport to keep them active this winter.  I have never been busier and for that I am grateful.

I have definitely noticed an increase in people's awareness for their health and well-being. My business of bringing Sacred Chaparral Medicine to the world has seen a dramatic increase. They are looking for alternatives, truth, JOY and taking control of their own lives. One thing I continually tell myself and my clients .... "Everything is in the Divine Order of the Universe." This wake-up call is in Divine Order. It is a lesson and a blessing .... "A Blesson" for everyone.

I have found people going in one of 2 directions.Either they have used the pandemic to walk and exercise more because of working from home or not working ! Or they take the couch potato approach with gain of COVID -15(lbs) and they are coming in with increase in back and joint pain.Certain part of population can’t or won’t self motivate and would rather treat consequences. We need to get people interested in their own body and health and preservation !
